Welcome baby!

When I had Jake I was given a beautiful crochet baby blanket which was made by the mum of a friend, it is a much treasured possession still now and was what made me want to learn to crochet.

With the arrival of my niece I had my first opportunity to make my own gifts. I couldn’t decide on one so I made a small granny square with ribbon

ANNIE FULL PURPLE

A simple square with a solid dark purple and a paler multi colour yarn for the made body, decorated with a pretty border and some purple ribbon.

ANNIE RIBBON

The second blanket I made was larger and I used a video tutorial of the RavelryRavelry Elizabeth Ham corner to corner Granny Stripe.

ANNIE CORNER

I used black and white for the main body of the blanket as babies focus well on these bold stripes and to link it to the smaller blanket I used the same dark purple yarn and made a pretty border.

ANNIE BORDER

It’s quite large so will last her into toddler age and beyond! My two boys now want one each!

Crochet

Long time no blog! I have been keeping myself busy recently and learning to crochet, I started small and made a few bright granny squares from scraps of wool, patterns confuse me, however I manage with the wonders of You Tube!

and eventually after a year of leaving it and then going back and doing some more, I have my first small granny square blanket, perfect to snuggle under on the sofa!
